Freddie Gillespie part ways with Breakers, set to join Olimpia Milan

The New Zealand Breakers have announced the contract termination with Freddie Gillespie, who will be replaced by Tacko Fall. Now everything is ready for the former Bayern Munich and Red Star player to join Olimpia Milano, where he will temporarily replace Josh Nebo forced to stop for another month. The position of David McCormack remains very uncertain. Class of 1997, Gillespie came to Bayern in Europe in the summer of 2022 and averaged 4.3 points and 6.0 rebounds in his first year in the EuroLeague with 19.0 minutes per game, 49.3 percent from two. The following year he found little space and moved to Crvena Zvezda in December. He also played few minutes per game in Serbia: 15 games with 8.1 minutes average.

In the summer he left Europe to join the New Zealand Breakers: in the NBL he was traveling at 6.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 18.3 minutes per game. “I have built great and lasting relationships with my teammates, the Breakers staff and our incredible fans. I am so proud of everything we have accomplished together this season. Now I am excited to begin the next chapter of my career,” , he officially told the Breakers' social media platforms.
