Jonas Valanciunas is changing teams: the Lithuanian big man has been involved in a trade that will send him from Washington to Sacramento. In return, the Wizards will receive Sidy Cissoko and two future second-round draft picks. This is the second trade move for the Kings during this deadline, after they traded De'Aaron Fox in a three-team deal with Chicago and San Antonio, acquiring Zach LaVine. Now, the reinforcement arrives in the paint, where up until now, besides Domantas Sabonis, the center position was shared by Trey Lyles and Alex Len off the bench.

Valanciunas will essentially form the big man duo in Sacramento alongside his fellow Lithuanian, Sabonis. The 32-year-old has a contract valid until the end of the 2026/27 season (not fully guaranteed), earning 10 million dollars for this season. In Washington this season, he was averaging 11.5 points per game, with 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 49 games. Over his career, he has played over 900 games with teams like the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, and New Orleans Pelicans, posting averages of 13.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. On the other hand, Sacramento is parting with Sidy Sissoko, who has played just 3.2 minutes per game in 17 games this season. The French player is in his second year in the NBA.
