Brandon Ingram has been traded by the New Orleans Pelicans. The former Duke star is heading to Toronto, with the Raptors sending Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, a protected 2026 first-round pick (top-4), and a 2031 second-round pick to New Orleans in return. Ingram is now eligible for a three-year, $144 million contract extension, and his move comes after failing to reach a renewal agreement with the Pelicans. Toronto is expected to commit to him long-term as part of a core that includes RJ Barrett, Scottie Barnes, and Immanuel Quickley. The 26-year-old forward has been sidelined with an ankle injury since December 7 and has played only 18 games this season, averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.2 assists.
On the other side, Bruce Brown is on an expiring $23 million contract, while Kelly Olynyk has one year left at $13.4 million. New Orleans might explore further trade options for both before today's deadline. Brown, 28 years old, was part of the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 NBA championship team and is averaging 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 17 games this season, having also dealt with injuries. Olynyk, 33, who arrived at last year's trade deadline, has put up 7.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 23 games this season.
