Virtus Bologna is looking for a new center: according to PianetaBasket, the club is active on the market for a big man since the recovery of Devontae Cacok - who has reportedly been asked to renegotiate his contract - will require far more time than expected. The names around Virtus in recent weeks have been those of Jordan Bell and John Egbunu, who has already signed in China. As learned by PianetaBasket, Virtus has now Bruno Fernando on its radar. The Italian club has reportedly already made a first offer to the player, which has been rejected for the moment. The former Celtics, Rockets, and Hawks is playing the NBA pre-season with the Toronto Raptors on a non-guaranteed contract ($2.4 million, non-guaranteed if he is waived before the start of the season). His goal is to return to the NBA next season, but the situation will only become clearer in the coming days and could open up to a landing in Europe, where it should be said, however, that not only Virtus is on him.

A product of the Maryland Terrapins, Fernando entered the NBA as the 34th pick in the 2019 Draft by the Sixers. He has 203 games in the NBA, where his career started with the Atlanta Hawks. He also had experiences with the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets before returning to Atlanta in 2023. In the 2023/24 season, he played 45 games in a Hawks jersey, averaging 15.2 minutes in which he produced 6.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. A member of the Angolan national team, he played in the Olympic qualifying tournament in the summer averaging 12 points with 10 rebounds in 2 games against Spain and Lebanon.
