Hezonja reveals, “I talked to Obradovic and Partizan in the summer.”
Mario Hezonja seemed on the verge of leaving Real Madrid in the summer, but he ended up by signing a contract extension. The Croatian has decided to tie himself to the Blancos until 2029, when he will be 34 years old. He revealed to Telegraf that he talked to Partizan Belgrade in the summer. "How can I answer that now [If he will ever play for Partizan]? I see myself there, but at the same time, I don't," Hezonja said after Drazen Petrovic's Legacy Game in Zagreb. "These are tough questions with no easy answers, but I'm grateful to them. I'm a bit antisocial, but I've never enjoyed a phone conversation as much as I did when I spoke with Zeljko Obradovic".
Hezonja then confirmed that he spoke with the Obradovic and also with president Savic. "It was incredible. That man is so relaxed, and it's like he's made of gold. What he's achieved and contributed to European basketball is remarkable. I'm deeply thankful to him, not just for this summer but for everything. He's always been approachable, knew how to hug me, and told me things every player needs to hear from a great coach. I'm grateful to both him and Mr. [Zoran] Savic," Hezonja said, seemingly confirming Partizan's interest during the summer.
