EuroLeague Board to decide soon on the 18 participants in the 2024/25 season
Last week, the ECA shareholders' meeting voted to extend its 13 members' commitment to the competition for another 15 years. Tomorrow and Wednesday, however, the latest news from the EuroLeague Board is expected to make decisions on the teams admitted to the upcoming 2024-25 season. Alongside Real Madrid, Barcelona, Baskonia, Olimpia Milano, Zalgiris Kaunas, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Bayern Munich, Asvel, Fenerbahce, Anadolu Efes, Olympiacos, and Panathinaikos (with 13th-ranked Cska Moscow still remaining excluded) there will be an additional group of six teams.
Confirmed first is the wild card to AS Monaco for reaching the playoffs. A second place would be reserved for Paris Basketball, winner of the EuroCup, which must, however, clear the last doubts about the minimum budget required to take part. In the remaining four, in addition to Virtus Bologna, Crvena Zvezda (which won the Aba League), Partizan, Valencia and Alba Berlin are in contention. One will remain excluded; the others will have to pay an "entry fee" of 1 million euros.
