Danilo Gallinari's season with the Bucks ended: now a comeback in EuroLeague?
Danilo Gallinari's season officially ended with the Milwaukee Bucks' 98-120 defeat in Indianapolis. Nothing to do for coach Doc Rivers' team, which was still without Giannis Antetokounmpo and with a Damian Lillard not at his best, and failed to force Game 7 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Just under 4' of game for Gallinari, who had found more space in the last two contests. Danilo had arrived in Milwaukee in mid-February 2024 on a contract worth just over $1 million until the end of the season. Now what future for Gallinari? With the Bucks the space he found was very little: just 9.1 minutes per partra in 17 regular season games, the lowest figure since he entered the NBA.
Olimpia Milano or still NBA? Gallinari has never hidden that he wants to try to win the title as long as it is possible. "The idea of the ring? It's always there. It is the Goal, with a capital 'O'. I hope, sooner or later, to have the right opportunity," he said in October, a few months before signing with the Bucks. In the same interview he made Olimpia Milano fans dream by saying, "Retirement will depend on the physical, more than on the head. The head, however, says to close in Milan. By winning." Could that happen next season? Now it really seems possible, unless a new opportunity from an NBA contender arises in the summer (although the little minutes in Milwaukee leaves doubts about that). First there will be the national team. "Danilo has to think about the season finale with the Bucks. Then we'll talk again and figure out what to do. Now, rightly, everyone is focused on their club. There will be time and a way to think about the National Team," Italian NT Head of Delegation Gigi Datome said in April. Now the time has come, hoping Gallo can be in Pozzecco's 12 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the Pre-Olympics.
