Barca e Rokas Jokubaitis part ways, he's ready to sign with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Yesterday Barcelona announced through a press release that it has terminated the contract with Rokas Jokubaitis, who originally had a deal expiring in June 2025. The Lithuanian point guard is no longer in the Blaugrana club's plans after coach Joan Pennaroya's arrival. The 23-year-old has been in recent weeks very close from returning to Zaglris Kaunas, but Maccabi Tel Aviv has stepped up in recent days, presenting a major offer for the player. The player's future is in Israel, as the yellow and blue team officially announced his signings on a three-year deal.
Jokubaitis arrived at Barcelona before the 2021/22 season started after making his EuroLeague debut with Zalgiris Kaunas. In three seasons in a Blaugrana jersey, he recorded 244 total appearances, 112 in the EuroLeague. In the 2023-24 season, the 23-year-old averaged 5.3 points, 2.8 assists, 1.7 rebounds and 5.5 PIR per game in 36 EuroLeague appearances for Barca. Recently, Jokubaitis participated in the NBA Summer League with the New York Knicks. In five games, the No. 34 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft averaged 9.8 points and 3.8 assists.
